Anusandhan National Research Foundation’s PMECRG & MAHA-EV Mission

Recently, the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) launched two significant initiatives: the Prime Minister Early Career Research Grant (PMECRG) and the Mission for Advancement in High-Impact Areas - Electric Vehicle (MAHA-EV) Mission.

About ANRF:
The Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) was established under the Anusandhan National Research Foundation Act, 2023. Its primary aim is to foster a robust culture of research and innovation across the country, seeding and nurturing groundbreaking ideas. The operational launch of ANRF took place with its First Meeting of the Governing Board in September 2024, chaired by the Prime Minister.
The meeting focused on strategic interventions to enhance India’s global position in key sectors, align research and development (R&D) with national priorities, and promote inclusive growth.

Key Initiatives:

1. Prime Minister Early Career Research Grant (PMECRG):
   • The PMECRG is designed to support young researchers by providing a flexible budget and fostering innovative initiatives.
   • The initiative aims to simplify research processes, promote high-quality work, and position India as a global leader in science and technology.
   • PMECRG focuses on nurturing young talent, enabling them to make significant contributions to scientific advancements and innovation across various fields.
2. Mission for Advancement in High-Impact Areas - Electric Vehicle (MAHA-EV) Mission:
   • The MAHA-EV Mission is dedicated to advancing key electric vehicle (EV) technologies in India.
   • Its objectives include reducing import dependency, fostering domestic innovation, and establishing India as a global leader in the EV sector.
   • This mission is aligned with the Atma Nirbhar Bharat vision and supports the government’s broader goal of achieving a Viksit Bharat by 2047.

These initiatives reflect India’s commitment to driving scientific advancements, promoting innovation, and advancing key sectors like electric vehicles to ensure sustainable and inclusive growth.
