BHASKAR: Platform For India’s Startup Ecosystem

Bharat Startup Knowledge Access Registry (BHASKAR) The Bharat Startup Knowledge Access Registry (BHASKAR) is a new platform launched by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Startup India program. This initiative aims to enhance collaboration, foster innovation, and streamline interactions within India's thriving startup ecosystem.


Key Objectives of BHASKAR:
  • Centralized Platform: BHASKAR is designed to centralize and streamline interactions among various stakeholders in the startup ecosystem, including startups, investors, mentors, service providers, and government bodies.
  • Digital Registry: The platform will serve as the world’s largest digital registry for startup stakeholders, providing easy access to a wealth of resources and opportunities for collaboration.
  • Personalized Engagement: Each stakeholder will be assigned a BHASKAR ID, facilitating personalized and efficient engagement across the platform.

  • Surge in Startups: From approximately 7,000 startups in 2014, the number has increased to over 80,000 in 2023, reflecting significant growth and development.
  • Unicorns and Decacorns: India has also witnessed the rise of over 100 unicorns (startups valued at over $1 billion) and a few decacorns (startups valued at over $10 billion), highlighting the maturity and success of the startup ecosystem.
