Bima Sakhi Yojana

The Bima Sakhi Yojana, launched by the Prime Minister, is an empowering initiative by the Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) aimed at providing employment opportunities to 2 lakh women. This program underscores the commitment to women's empowerment and financial inclusion in India.

Bima Sakhi
is a stipend-based program designed exclusively for women, offering comprehensive training and financial support over three years.

Key Features:

  • Eligibility: Women aged between 18 and 70 with a minimum of 10th-grade education.
  • Stipend Structure: Participants receive a stipend of:
    • Rs. 7,000 per month in the first year,
    • Rs. 6,000 per month in the second year,
    • Rs. 5,000 per month in the third year.
  • Earnings: In addition to the stipend, Bima Sakhis can earn commissions from the insurance policies they secure.
  • Post-Training Opportunities: After completing the training, women can serve as LIC agents. Graduates of the program also have the opportunity to qualify for Development Officer roles within LIC.
This initiative not only provides financial independence to women but also contributes to strengthening the financial literacy and insurance penetration across the country.
