RESET Programme: Empowering Retired Sports Persons Aim: The RESET Programme (Rehabilitation, Education, Skills Enhancement and Training) is designed to empower retired sports persons by equipping them with the necessary knowledge, skills, and resources to make them more employable in various fields. The goal is to support athletes as they transition from their sporting careers into new professional avenues.

Eligibility:

The program is open to retired athletes who meet the following criteria:

  • Age: Between 20 and 50 years.
  • Achievements: The athletes should have:
    • Won international medals, or
    • Participated in international events, or
    • Achieved national or state-level recognition.
Structure:
The RESET Programme is designed with two levels based on the athletes’ educational qualifications:
  1. Class 12th and Above: For athletes with a higher level of education.
  2. Class 11th and Below: For athletes who have completed up to Class 11th or have lower formal education.
These levels ensure that the training provided is appropriate to the educational background and learning needs of each participant.

Lead Institute for Implementation:
The Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education (LNIPE), located in Gwalior, is the lead institute responsible for implementing the RESET Programme. LNIPE is a prominent educational institution specializing in physical education and sports sciences, and it will provide the necessary infrastructure and expertise to run the program effectively. Key Features of the RESET Programme:
  • Holistic Development: Focuses on enhancing both educational qualifications and professional skills, making retired athletes more marketable and prepared for life after sports.
  • Tailored Learning: The two-level structure of the program allows for personalized skill development, considering the educational background of each participant.
  • Career Transition Support: The program will guide athletes in finding employment opportunities that align with their skills, interests, and achievements in sports.
Conclusion:
The RESET Programme aims to provide retired athletes with a structured, supportive path to enhance their skills and knowledge, enabling them to build successful careers outside of sports. With the guidance of LNIPE, this initiative will help these athletes become employable, contributing to their post-retirement well-being and overall societal integration.
