Sampoornata Abhiyan

NITI Aayog has launched the Sampoornata Abhiyan campaign, a 3-month initiative running from 4th to 30th September 2024. The campaign focuses on achieving saturation in key indicators in Aspirational Districts (ADs) and Aspirational Blocks (ABs). These districts and blocks are typically characterized by poor socio-economic performance and are prioritized for rapid improvement.

Objectives of the Sampoornata Abhiyan:

  • Saturation of 6 Identified Indicators in Aspirational Districts and 6 Indicators in Aspirational Blocks.
Aspirational Districts and Aspirational Blocks: The Aspirational Districts Programme (ADP) and Aspirational Blocks Programme (ABP) are key initiatives launched by NITI Aayog to promote inclusive development in areas lagging behind in socio-economic development.

Aspirational Districts Programme (ADP)
  • Launched: 2018
  • Aim: To accelerate the development of 112 districts across India.
  • Themes:
    • Health & Nutrition
    • Education
    • Agriculture & Water Resources
    • Financial Inclusion & Skill Development
    • Infrastructure
  • Number of Indicators: 81
Aspirational Blocks Programme (ABP)
  • Launched: 2023
  • Aim: To achieve saturation of essential government services across 500 blocks in 329 districts of India.
  • Themes:
    • Health & Nutrition
    • Education
    • Agriculture and Allied Services
    • Basic Infrastructure
    • Social Development
  • Number of Indicators: 40
Key Impact: The Sampoornata Abhiyan aims to fast-track improvements in the socio-economic conditions of the most disadvantaged regions by addressing critical gaps in essential services and focusing on holistic development.
